Asteroid is the assistance and travel insurance brand created by MDabroad, an international medical-assistance administrator (TPA — Third-Party Administrator) with more than 25 years of operation and over US$1 billion in claims managed globally.
While most insurers outsource emergency assistance to companies the traveler has never heard of, at Asteroid the insurer and the assistance operator are the same company. When you call at 3 a.m. from a hospital abroad, the person who answers is the team that coordinates the case from start to finish.

MDabroad built its reputation operating behind the scenes of international assistance for major global insurers, multinational corporations and diplomatic missions. The network includes more than 500 accredited partner hospitals and over 10,000 verified providers across the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Regulatory structure
Asteroid operates as an assistance and distribution platform. Insurance coverage is issued by a partner insurer regulated by SUSEP (Brazil's insurance regulator). Benefits, limits, exclusions and conditions depend on the plan purchased — always read the policy's general terms.
