Seguros Promo has a 9.7 Reclame Aqui rating — better than any individual travel insurer. That's because it's not an insurer. It's a comparator. And when you need emergency service at 3 a.m. in Miami, nobody calls the comparator.
What is Seguros Promo?
It compares prices, not emergencies. When your plane doesn't depart or you're in a hospital, the comparator doesn't answer. Only the insurer.
Seguros Promo is a comparison and sales platform for travel insurance. It lists Allianz, Assist Card, Universal Assistance, Porto Seguro, and others — earning commission when you buy. Its 9.7 Reclame Aqui rating and 97.8% resolution reflect quality of commercial service (cancellations, issuance, changes), not what happens when you have an overseas medical emergency.
The insurer you chose in the comparator solves the emergency. Seguros Promo exits the equation at that point.
The Responsibility Chain Problem
When you buy through a comparator, the chain looks like this:
Seguros Promo (sells) → Allianz/Assist Card/etc. (issues policy) → Third-party TPA (handles emergency)
Three entities. Three contracts. Three chances for someone to say "that's not my job."
In the hospital, who issues the payment guarantee? Who authorizes surgery? Who stays on the line with the doctor at 4 a.m.? If you can't answer, you don't know what you bought.
Asteroid has a clear chain: Sabemi (insurer) + MDabroad (integrated TPA specialist) + Blink (parametric layer). One responsibility line, three identified components.
Why Asteroid Doesn't Appear on Seguros Promo (Yet)
Comparators optimize for price and standard features. Asteroid has a differentiator comparators struggle to categorize: parametric insurance with automatic payment for flight delays. No competitor listed on major Brazilian comparators offers this.
Meanwhile, anyone finding us outside comparators finds something comparators can't show you.
The Sublimit Trap in Comparators
Comparators show price and total coverage. What they don't show are sublimits — limits per procedure determining actual coverage.
A policy with "$300,000 medical coverage" might include:
- Surgery: capped at $20,000
- ICU per day: $5,000
- Medical evacuation: $30,000
A serious USA emergency exceeds these limits easily. The big number on the comparator isn't the protection you have.
For the USA: minimum USD 250,000 medical coverage. For Europe: USD 100,000.

FAQ
Is Seguros Promo reliable? Yes — as comparison and sales platform, service is solid (9.7 Reclame Aqui). What it doesn't control is emergency service quality from insurers it lists.
Why isn't Asteroid on Seguros Promo? We haven't integrated comparators yet. Our parametric model and integrated TPA function better through direct sales or LAUNCHPAD for brokers.
How do I choose among Seguros Promo plans? Compare sublimits, not just total coverage. Check who the TPA is (who handles emergency). Confirm whether payment is direct hospital or reimbursement. These three points matter more than price.
